Poppy, baby donkey extraordinaire!
We have a baby donkey. Her name is Poppy. She is adorable. She is also kind of challenging for her Mom to handle because Poppy is currently going through the donkey version of the terrible twos. She wants what she wants when she wants it—and usually what she wants is a banana, some attention, or the right to chew on her mother’s ears.
She loves visitors. LOVES them. Especially children. If your kid appears in the distance, Poppy will likely gallop over, full of enthusiasm and banana-based expectations. She has not yet grasped that not every person is carrying fruit in their pockets. Still, she checks. Every time.
Her other favorite thing is running around the paddock, bucking like a rodeo horse. She likes to show off how fast she can go off, and she’s recently developed a habit of running little zoomie circles just for fun, tail high, eyes sparkling, clearly impressed with herself.
And honestly? So are we.
Poppy might be a handful, but she makes us laugh daily and reminds us that a farm doesn’t have to be all work. Sometimes, it’s more about sharing hugs with your extroverted baby donkey!
