Kingfisher House

The Kingfisher House is a lovely, open floor plan house, 48 square meters (516 square feet) in size, positioned right at the water’s edge on Lake Nicaragua. Located just outside of Balgue, the home hosts a high-end and comfortable queen bed, a bunk bed, a bathroom with hot water, air-conditioning, three fans, and a large porch looking out over the water.

The kitchen is small, but beautiful, with a two-plate stovetop, a microwave, a largish fridge, a big sink, and fully stocked shelves with anything you might need to cook at the property. A gas grill is available by request. Filtered water is available at all times with our earthenware.

The surrounding area is richly planted with flowers, so many birds and butterflies are generally flitting about on land. You will also spot Ospreys, Cara Cara Eagles, Cormorants, Herons, Egrets, Pelicans, Frigate Birds (in season), and many other songbirds right from your front porch, which is over ten feet wide and equipped with rocking chairs and fans. A nice breeze blows in off the lake, and depending on the season, you will be lulled to sleep at night by the sound of the waves on the shore. The area is extremely safe and generally relatively quiet, being about ó mile from any bars or restaurants, so it is a peaceful spot to hang out! We use solar power (and we have commercial as a backup), a massive plus on the island, which frequently loses power! We also have wired the house with high-speed co-axial internet cable, so our internet is fast and dependable, providing an excellent working location for digital nomads.
